5 out of 5 stars Perfect for the kitchen   July 6, 2010
Sam (Sunnyvale, CA United States)
I'm using it on all my food instead of burning my poor fingers. Is that soup hot yet...OWWWWW.

Still on the original batteries....for those complaining about them running out, you can buy a dozen for $2 on amazon.

3 out of 5 stars Works great...but batteries dead on arrival   June 2, 2010
HerbFoster
Thermometer arrived with dead batteries. Had to purchase new batteries for $6. After putting in the new batteries, it seems to be working perfectly. Overall, just disappointed that I had to pay almost a 1/3 more just to get it to work as advertised...

4 out of 5 stars Came with discharged batteries that lasted only 1 day.   May 19, 2010

I was really excited when I got it, but my excitement died quickly when the thing started acting up. I put some fresh batteries in and it works great now.

When you order it, make sure you order batteries for it too, it takes two AG13.
I got two dozen batteries for a couple of bucks on Amazon to get to my free shipping quota.

It says it is waterproof, but I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean. It does have small gaskets, but I doubt it'll take too much abuse. It feels cheap, but it works. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase.

4 out of 5 stars Nice IR Thermometer   May 7, 2010
Eli J. Morales Negron
Very nice and small IR thermometer. Works as advertised, so many uses. I use it for measuring water, oven, walls, ceiling, tires, food, beer, girlfriend, etc, etc... I really love that I can make sure my beer is as cold as I want it (-5°C), takes the guess work out... he he.

Only reason I'm not 5 star satisfied is because if the point gets humid it gives an error. When measuring boiling water I cant really take a precise measure because if I put the device too close to the water the vapor makes the device throw an error. I have to take the measurement away from the vapor thus giving a measurement a few degrees lower than expected. Not a biggie for me, I really like the product and yes it is water proof but you cant measure under water because it throws an error same as with vapor.

Overall good product.

5 out of 5 stars Small buttons and Display, otherwise good   May 5, 2010
S. Barak
I've so far used this for things ranging from cooking and measuring the temperature outside, to teaching class of middle school student about IR radiation -- and it's done a great job of all of these. The only caveats are that I wouldn't recommend this product for anyone needing high precision results, or for situations where protective equipment is used, as the display and the buttons are pretty small and would be hard to maneuver with gloves. Other than that, it has been a good value for the price and I count myself a satisfied customer.
