Amazon.com Product Description
The 4688D padlock by Master Lock is TSA approved! No need to have unlocked baggage while traveling anymore. The red-and-white TSA logo on the lock notifies screeners that they can unlock and relock your baggage without having to break the lock open. Also, the 4688D comes in four colors--black, blue, red, and silver--for easy baggage identification. And with set-your-own combination convenience, you don't have to worry about loosing the key while you travel.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) now suggests you lock your checked baggage with TSA-accepted and recognized locks. Travel Sentry™ Certified locks are accepted and recognized by the TSA. Look for the Travel Sentry™ symbol when shopping for TSA-accepted products.

Master Lock has joined together with TSA and Travel Sentry™ to use the special Travel Sentry™ mark on luggage locks that meet the requirements of the TSA. Airline check-in staff are trained to recognize the Travel Sentry™ mark, so they understand that baggage with this special mark is permitted to remain locked. The TSA screeners have access to special tools that allow them to open TSA-accepted locks in the event that your bags must be opened for inspection.

Airport security professionals no longer need to cut your locks or force your bag open and risk damaging it. They simply open your locks, inspect, and relock your bags, sending them quickly and securely on their way.

The red-and-white Travel Sentry™ logo on Master Lock TSA-accepted locks notifies TSA screeners that they can unlock, inspect, and relock the bag without damaging the lock.

Travel Tips from Master Lock

Whether you're traveling within the United States or abroad, follow these simple steps to protect you and your belongings:

  1. When checking your baggage, use a Master Lock TSA-accepted locking device--the one device the airport screeners won't cut! These locks allow TSA screeners to inspect and relock your baggage without damaging your lock.
  2. Secure your carry-on bags with a Master Lock TSA-accepted locking closure as an additional safeguard.
  3. Place your contact information inside and outside your baggage. This provides the fastest way to be reunited with your baggage if it is lost or mishandled.
  4. Use a TSA-accepted lock on all bags throughout your trip--even in your hotel room and at the bell desk--as an additional theft deterrent. Available locks include: set your own combination, keyed, or locking luggage straps.
  5. Carry an ATM card, credit cards, or traveler's checks instead of cash. Keep your traveler's checks in a money belt under your clothing for extra protection.
  6. As recommend by the U.S. State Department, register your trip in case of emergency with the free online service: travelregistration.state.gov
  7. Sign your passport, include emergency contact information, and give copies of it and other important documents to a family member or trusted friend in case of an emergency.

5 out of 5 stars Locks on both ends!   July 24, 2010

All luggage locks are cheaply made when you compare them to a regular Master lock, but all things considered I'm very happy with this lock. Both ends are secured, unlike some other locks where one end of the loop hangs freely just inside the top hole of the lock. Only con is that you can't choose color, but I got the one I wanted anyway (red).

5 out of 5 stars Great lock but wrong color   April 25, 2010

Great lock, ordered two, a lot stronger than it looks in the picture. I plan on using these on my backpack in Europe. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to select the color I wanted. Instead of black I got red and blue. Maybe I'm just picky, but now they wont match next to each other and will probably attract more attention than if they were just plain black.

The lock works just fine and the numbers are easy enough to use. Just follow the instructions to create your code, and for convenience, just have it off by one number so you can easily unlock it.

4 out of 5 stars A simple lock that does its job. It deters casual thiefs so they move on to another no lock luggage.   April 20, 2010

Lets be real here. If a pro-thief wanted to break into luggage locks, he can easily do so and nip the shackle or the flimsy zipper with simple tools. All these luggage locks do is just deter the casual thief to snoop towards a more unsafe luggage without lock. While the coated cable isn't as strong as the steel shackle, I do like how the cable is more flexible, LARGER and less likely to do damage or bend the zipper. Another thing that I like about this lock is that it has a combination and it is so easy to set your combination. No way did I want to carry another key around especially if I were to lose a tiny key. Another good thing is that it's TSA certified so they shouldn't be cutting your locks at the airport. As for no TSA signal indicator where it tells you when a TSA agent opens it... Not a big deal. I hope that I can trust TSA agent not stealing anything. Negative thing that kinda bothers me is that it is only 3 number combination lock. I think 4 numbers may have been better because of more possible combinations but I doubt many thiefs would go the guessing combination route.

And to the people who use luggage locks for gym lockers... Don't use measly luggage locks because they are far weaker than the thicker shackle locks. It's called luggage lock for a reason. Don't use the regular dial combination locks either because they can be picked with piece of aluminum. Get the masterlock speed dial combination lock! It is great and stronger than the other locks.

The quality feature about this product is the small hook that makes it usable across many smaller products. Very easily locks and unlocks.

1 out of 5 stars Wouldn't Close Back Up   March 25, 2010

Myself and three other people attempted to change the lock code and could not. The cable would not return back into the lock after countless attempts to do so. The numbers are difficult to move and align. I would not recommend this lock to anyone.
