5 out of 5 stars the best ear plugs!   September 6, 2010
hastobeclean
These are my favorite ear plugs. My husband snores and this is the only way we can sleep in the same room. These plugs are the softest and most reliable for keeping out noise. This was the cheapest place we could find them. I have a supply that will last me a very long time. I highly recommend these for anyone who has a hard time sleeping because of noise whether it be at college, or your spouse or highway noise. These are very soft and won't cause ear infection. I love them!!

5 out of 5 stars go in and stay where they belong   August 4, 2010
P. Karpenko (CA USA)
I need ear plugs for riding motorcycles and for some clay shooting, and I have tried a number of different plugs with very mixed results. Maybe, my ear canals are crooked, but with many plugs it takes quite some time to find a way to push them in properly; these just go in and stay there. Some other plugs would go in fine but would go out when I pull the helmet over my ears, or as I ride; this doesn't happen with these plugs - they just stay inside.
The level of insulation is appropriate, no complaints at all; I can still hear a normal conversation, but the wind noise, the engine noice and the blasts do not penetrate the plugs.
Level of comfort is average, I cannot say that the plugs are softer or in any other way more comfortable than the others that I'd tried; I also do not have a sleeping problem yet, so I don't have any idea of how will it feel to sleep with the plugged-up ears.

One should definitely listen to what the instruction says and remove the plugs in a slow twisting motion; otherwise, the vacuum may eventually break an eardrum.

5 out of 5 stars Comfortable Ear Plugs   August 2, 2010

I've been using foam ear plugs for over 20 years and I always thought they were one size fits all. I stumbled across these and found that they are slightly smaller than the standard size. Because they are smaller, they are easier to insert and are more comfortable when wearing them all day long. I like wearing the foam ear plugs because they don't interfere with my goggles, mask, or headwear. I prefer the ones without cords because the cords always seem to snag on things. I love that these are individually wrapped. I have a few packs stored in my vehicle, some in the garage, some in my tool bag, and the rest in the basement where it is cool for long term storage. Now I always have a pack handy and use them as needed. Before I wouldn't always use them because I wouldn't want to go into the house if I was really dirty just to grab a pair out of the box for a small job. I recommend these to anyone who thinks foam ear plugs are difficult to fit into their ears. You just might need the smaller size. I wish I would have known about these years ago.

5 out of 5 stars Blocks out the irritating neighbors   July 29, 2010

I am a light sleeper, all kinds of noises wake me up. I got my first good night of sleep after wearing a pair of Flents Quiet Time Soft Comfort Foam Ear Plugs. Unfortunately, they were from batch of NR31s which are no longer made so I needed to find a better alternative.

After some research, I found the Max Lite LPF-1 and I can sleep more soundly for longer stretches. I usually get woken up by my neighbors bickering every night at 1am, and after wearing these, no more! I have also used the pink and yellow Howard Leight LL1 Laser Lites which you can usually pick up at CVS locally. I measured with a ruler and it looks like both the LPF-1 and LL1 are the same size width-wise (~9mm), but the LPF-1 is more comfortable to me because of the low pressure foam for my smaller ear canals. The LL1s will block more noise since they are rated NRR32 and the LPF-1 is rated NRR30. But if you have smaller ear canals that get irritated by other larger earplugs, the Max Lites may be a good alternative.

These earplugs cannot completely block out loud noises such as honking horns, but it will block out quieter ambient noises such as a car speeding by, people talking outside, car doors slamming, light snoring, hovering helicopters, etc. They have allowed me to sleep through my cat meowing for food or scratching at the door in the morning.

I did notice after wearing one pair of earplugs consistently for about 2 weeks, they stopped blocking out as much noise. After switching to a new pair, the problem was gone, so make sure you replace them periodically.

According to the packaging, these are made in the USA. A few third-party sellers on Amazon sell 12 or 20 pairs if you want to try them out before committing to a 200 pack.

Side note: To remove earplugs safely, twist like a screw to first break the seal, then pull out. Removing by pulling the earplug straight out without first twisting to break the seal can create a suction effect on your eardrum and possibly cause damage to your hearing.

5 out of 5 stars Working swing shift? Do you snore?   June 3, 2010
Curtis Gomez (Burbank, CA USA)
I live in Los Angeles and it's a noisy urban area. My bedroom faces dead east and gets all the morning sunshine. My new job is a swing shift and I was losing some serious sleep. I was actually worried about my long term health. These earplugs came free with a Dream Essentials sleep mask and they are extremely comfortable and now I couldn't be sleeping better.
Be careful though, I slept right through my alarm twice.
Do yourself a favor and get the sleep mask and earplugs.
I almost forgot, my wife says I don't snore anymore. I can only speculate that I'm sleeping deeper and/or my sinuses are warmed by the mask and helping me breath better. (I do have allergies.)
