4 out of 5 stars GE Security 001015 Keysafe   July 26, 2010
William J. Moreau (Beaver Dam WI)
I bought this keysafe because it seemed to be the best one I could find for securing a couple of house keys, in case if I was to lock myself out or if I lost power while I was gone. It isn't completely safe, someone could possibly figure out the code. But, it would take them quite a while to figure it out. I have it mounted on my garage door frame and at night it is well lit up by the outdoor night light, which would deter the majority of loosers.

5 out of 5 stars Finally Know Where the Extra Key Is!   July 25, 2010
Sydney's Mom (Clarendon Hills, Illinois United States)
My 12-year old was constantly forgetting to put the extra key back. My husband and I were scared WE would be locked out. Well, my daughter was the one who locked herself out, on a 95 degree day. We put this right next to the door, and it has a clip for the key. Even my lazy 12-year old won't unclip the key. So it gets put back every time!

5 out of 5 stars Good quality, easy to use.   July 24, 2010

This box was easy to install and has held up to Vermont weather very well. Inside stays dry. The only thing I would point out is the claim to hold 5 keys must be for keys without any kind of key chain as it barely holds our one small key chain.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent buy!   June 1, 2010
D. Cox (Houston, TX)
This product settled my fears of rekeying my home everytime my 11-yr. old son loses his keys.

The quality is superb and the installation and set up were a breeze. I highly recommend this product to anyone who has children or simply worried about being locked out of the house.

5 out of 5 stars Solid and secure. Easy access for family members, no more young children losing their copy of the house key!   May 9, 2010
Jeremy Rousse (Burlington, VT)
I live less than 90 minutes from the Canadian border, and I use one of these outdoors. So does my brother-in-law, who also owns one. So do my parents, and they have had theirs for more than 10 years and it's still as good as new. The winters in our town are as harsh as anywhere in New England. These things are weatherproof and virtually indestructible.

There are 1023 total possible combinations, as has already been stated by multiple reviewers. Even if a thief could efficiently keep track of every combination he has tried (which I doubt), and could input a new code every, say, 3 seconds with perfect efficiency, (which I also doubt), it would take over 51 minutes to try them all. No one is going to stand on your front doorstep for an hour, in plain view, with a notepad and a checklist, trying to brute-force guess your combination. That would be laughable. For all intents and purposes, the key inside this box might as well not exist, for anyone without the combination.

The combination is very easy to set, and the device can be operated by even a small child, assuming it is mounted within his or her reach. This is perfect for families with kids who might need to be able to let themselves in after school, but who can't be relied upon not to lose their copy of the house key (which would necessitate changing of the locks - a costly alternative.)

I heartily recommend this product.
